How much is my doll worth?
Hello All!
I have a wonderful barbie-mattel straight leg teen-age fashion model,blonde,bubble-cut doll.How much is she worth?She was made in '61 with 99% of her finger/toe polish on,and all of her make-up on which hasn't been touched up.She comes in her orig. box,swimsuit,and pedestal;with her only flaw being she has green residue around her ears.
To re-cap,how much is she worth?Only flaw is green residue around her ears.
I'd like vintage doll collectors to answer,but anyone's answer is acceptable!

I will suggest that you visit this site www.dollreference.com it a wonderful site for id of your doll please type in, barbie and you will have several pages of original Barbie and their marks and exactly what it means, you are dealing with a number two barbie to number six. They made bodies that they used for years with the same numbers. It is going to be the way the eyes are painted and other face features plus the numbers on the butt of the doll. Lots of times on ebay the seller does not really know the correct id of the doll. plus as a seller of only dolls on the internet many times we do find missed marked dolls and they become a great buy for a collector.
With the sells of Barbies and other dolls with the economy the prices are at a very low point so its a buyers market. So I would not worry about the value of your doll at this point. Plus i would not sell her either. I have several number two Barbies with full wardrobes, plus others and I have been waiting for the prices to rise before I move them to a new home or collector.
You can remove the green from the ears I would do that because it will only get worse, sometimes the lips will bleed as well, but this is all repairable.
There is a great book on Barbie repair that is just for these dolls I would look for it on ebay or on http://www.abebooks.com. I had the book that came in for sale in a collection. I was an idiot to sell that book.
The value of the doll in today's market may not be the same value in tomorrows market. Sit on the doll for a while.
