The Best Avatar Costumes For Adults
In 2009, James Cameron released his movie Avatar to the public. This stunning visual piece of art won Oscar awards for its incredible visual effects, artistic direction and cinematography. Viewers around the world became fans of the film, and its mythical world of Pandora as well as the plight of the Na'vi. Now, you can act out your favorite scenes from the movie in your avatar costumes for adults.
It can be fun to dress up and play at different roles. Halloween is one time that you can become someone you are not. For any costume party or ball, the Avatar inspired costumes can be easily put together and lots of fun to wear.
The basic costume for almost all the Avatar costumes is that of Neytiri, the Princess of the Omaticaya Clan. Her costume includes just the basics: a full body suit which is covered in the characteristic stripes of her people with a tail. She wears an apron over her groin, but is otherwise "naked". Some kits include arm gauntlets, and beaded bracelet and arm bands. Others do not.
Neytiri falls in love with the Avatar of the crippled marine, Jake Sully. His Avatar costume is easily constructed, but you can find kits which contain an expedition jacket, pants and a mask. Unfortunately, if you want to make certain that your Avatar of Jake is complete, you will not only need a tail, you will also need a blue turtleneck shirt which you can paint with your stripes on it, and some gauntlets.
For those women who do not want to draw too much attention to their physique, they may want to go as Dr. Grace Augustine. To the base costume for Neytiri, add a pink or white tank top, a pair of cropped blue jeans and a necklace with a large pendant attached.
Real fans of this movie may simply want to dress up as themselves as a Na'vi warrior or clan member. A basic Neytiri costume can be a good beginning, but by adding some personal elements, you can make it yours. Add special feathers, paint your face in cool designs, wear novelty beaded necklaces, arm bands and bracelets.
Some of the costume kits include masks. For those who have no skill with painting, this is an easy way to look like your favorite Avatar inspired character. However, by doing a bit of body painting, you can make this a unique costume all your own. Begin with a base coat of blue body paint, then accent with dark stripes. You might want to add some blush for color on the cheeks. And you can add tiny dabs of pale color in between your stripes for contrast.
No matter which of the avatar costumes for adults you choose, you will have to decide how you will take care of your hair. If you have long hair, you can braid it for your party or event. However, if time is short and you need a quick fix to this problem, it is possible to find braided hair wigs for this costume. Be sure to add beads to the ends of the hair and mix in feathers all over to complete the effect.
