Questions About Germany?
I'm visiting Germany from California soon, and I just had some questions. Answer as many as you can please:)
1. What do people wear there? I just read that it is weird to wear bright colors there, especially in the fall. But here, we wear sweat outfits like this all the time

2. How can I make a good first impression?
3. How do people greet each other there?
4. Why do Germans think American girls are fat, ugly, materialistic, and stupid? If I were to stereotype the girls here, I would say anorexic (most girls weigh 90-100 pounds my age, and i'm 14), pretty, materialistic, smart, and really friendly and nice.
5. What is the grade equivalent to 8th grade there?
6. What gift should we bring our family there?
Wear what you feel like, before you put yourself in clothes you don’t like. Know that in Germany exist 4 season, summer, spring, autumn and winter. If you travel now, you will come to the winter season. Cold, rainy, eventually snowy – most Germans don’t like bright colors and wear always the grey, dark-green, blue tone clothes. I believe it is because they don’t want that someone is looking on them. But there are also sometimes others, they wear colorful clothes. So, important is that the clothes are appropriate to the weather and season.
Greeting the people and being interested in them.
Depend on whom and where you greeting; there are the formal once:
Guten Morgen, Guten Tag, Guten Abend or
the not so formal way to greet: Hallo, Hei, Tach, dag, depend on which area of Germany you go. … There exist sometimes local ways to great.
Somewhere that image about the US-girls will had come from. Find it out by yourself where this image is coming from. You can make the difference, beginning to change that image.
I believe is the same grade – 8. Klasse.
In case there is nothing you can have some details on their interest and so on, I would suggest to bring something you can introduce where you are from. … i.e. a book with photos from your area, or some other local stuff you will know better then anybody else.
