In which country would the God(dess) live if we were to stage a Godly coup today & re-instate Olympic deities?
Just idle fun reflections on what is making news in Yahoo Headline News today: Yes... good food for thought while my vacation lasts overseas.
Ares: God of war
Hermes: God of athletics, shepherds, inventor of fire,
Zeus: the big man on the Olympian campus still commands
Apollo: God of the sun, art, and medicine, among others,
Athena: Goddess of wisdom. Her Dad is Zeus,
Aphrodite: Beauty, love, lust, and sex are her domains.
Poseidon: God of the sea.
Hades: God of the underworld
Artemis: Goddess of the hunt.
Hera: Goddess of marriage and birth and jealous wife of Zeus
Hephaestus: God of fire and forge. A tough guy, but got beat out in popularity by his Olympian colleagues.
Hestia: Lesser known goddess of the hearth.

Your take?
Ares: God of CHAOTIC war, more slaughter and battle than real war. I'd have to pick Africa (just because of all the wars going on I think would feed his strength) or USA (with such a big military force I think he'd be tempted to go nuts).
Hermes: Hermes was a God of over 31 things actually, including thieves. I think, as a messenger and traveler God, he'd just jet set and go where ever he pleased.
Zeus: He'd stay at Olympus. Though, he'd still dally with the ladies. He'd never quit that. Oh Zeus, you player.
Apollo: Australia or South America, mainly for the sun I believe. Perhaps France for the sheer amount of Art.
Athena: Also mainly the Goddess of TACTICAL warfare. Perhaps America because it has the biggest military and she would be able to put it to GOOD use (finally someone could) or China (just imagine the warriors she'd have under her control).
Aphrodite: I'd have to say someplace like Sweden or Netherlands, where they have much looser laws on marriage so all her powers of love could flourish.
Poseidon: Most likely the U.K. or Australia. For the Navy.
Hades: Probably the Underworld, like he was before.
Artemis: Africa. To protect the endangered animals from over-hunting and eliminate poachers and support tribal hunters.
Hera: Again, probably somewhere were marriage was more open, perhaps Canada.
Hephaestus: Japan. EVERYTHING is made in Japan.
Hestia: Switzerland, the land of neutrality.
And to add a few:
Eris: Sister of Ares, Goddess of chaos/discord and also makeup: Where ever she wanted to. I'd say mainly the USA because she could cause so much strife there, but basically anywhere.
Dionysus: God of sensual pleasures and wine: Netherlands. One word: Amsterdam.
Nyx: Goddess of the Night: Thailand. Why? Mainly because every documentary on this place I've seen makes it look like Thailand has THE best nightlife for EVERY person, no matter what race, religion, sex, creed, or what have you. Maybe Antartica because it has such a long time in the dark.
Enyo: Goddess of bloodshed and violence. Hmmmm, see Ares.
Panacea: Goddess of Healing and Medicine: Probably switch between China for Eastern Medicine and Europe for Western medicine.
Eos: Goddess of the dawn. Japan, because it is the Land of the Rising Sun.
